About the project
Ciril has breathed new life into Diest with Ezeldijk, a new district completely tailored to the Oranjestad. The project consists of various buildings with about 300 apartments and lofts, about 20 homes and a residential care center with 47 assisted living apartments. For example, Ciril transformed the site into a high-quality and lively residential area with a healthy mix of residents.
Ezeldijk is the repurposing of the former Euro Shoe sites on the edge of the Diest city center, between the Begijnhof and the Halve Maan provincial domain. The urban expansion is not an island in the center, but has been carefully integrated into the environment. For example, the intimate character of the Begijnhof can be found in the streets and alleys and the Demer – which runs right through the project site – was reopened to enjoy the water. In addition, the new park with its pond has become a meeting place for the inhabitants of Diesten.
