About the project
SAWA : a unique and circular wooden residential building of 50 meters high, which contributes to the biodiversity of the city through the integration of lavish greenery and nest boxes, is accessible to different income groups, and where people take care of each other and nature.
With SAWA, value is added to the neighborhood and the city in the broadest sense. These “shared values” relate to CO2 reduction, strengthening biodiversity and creating a circular building with affordable housing. What is exceptional about SAWA is that the building will be built entirely in CLT (cross laminated timber), whereby the use of concrete is kept to a minimum and SAWA is the first fully high wooden residential building in Rotterdam. SAWA is therefore an example project for new generations, an important step in the sustainability goals and demonstrable proof that things can be done differently.
