Authorities of Paris started to struggle with illegal renting of apartments

It's widely known that Paris is the most visited city in the world. Many tourists do not want to stay in hotels, preferring to rent apartments, but the lion's share of transactions takes place illegally. Municipality decided to hire 20 inspectors who visit suspected apartments and find out if the renting is legal, writes ee24.com with reference to bloomberg.com.

In an attempt to prevent the expulsion parisians out of the city and the transformation of whole neighborhoods into areas with a renting housing, authorities make raids: 20 team members make visits to apartments in Paris after reports from suspicious neighbors.

Authorities also work with the largest sites on booking of apartments, such as Airbnb and Sejourning, who do not check  legitimacy of apartments' renting. They believe they help the economy by attracting tourists who are unable to pay for accommodation in hotels.
