Czech Republic prohibits advertising in Russian

Czech parliament is going to oblige to duplicate all the foreign-language ads in the Czech language. The issue was brought up mainly because of the dominance of advertising in Russian in spa town of Karlovy Vary, writes ee24.com citing radio.cz.

Buying of real estate in the Czech Republic has become so popular among Russians that business owners in resort town of Karlovy Vary increasingly use signs and ads in Russian. Inscriptions about discounts can be found at shop windows, about sale of apartments in Karlovy Vary - on street banners, and menu and offers of the day are written in Russian on signs near restaurants.

Mayor of Karlovy Vary Petr Kulhánek actively supports the ban of using of foreign languages in advertising. The politician argues that it's not directed against the Russians, but to end discrimination of Czech citizens on language grounds.
