Housing sales in Turkey have been falling for the third month

In April 2014 in Turkey by 12% less homes were bought than a year earlier, according to ee24.com citing TurkStat. In February and March sales were also lower than in corresponding periods of the last year.

Among 83,610 of sold houses and apartments in Turkey, around 20.5% were sold in Istanbul, 11.1% - in Ankara, 6.2% - in Izmir. 23,447 (28%) of properties were purchased with mortgage.

37,555 (44.9%) of transactions were conducted on the primary market, and the three leading cities here differ from general statistics: Istanbul and Ankara are keeping main positions, but number three is not Izmir but Antalya.

Foreigners in April have purchased 1,554 properties in Turkey. Antalya (563) and Istanbul (489) are in great demand. Other popular locations are Aydin, Bursa, Adana and Mersin. Recall that last year foreigners have made 12,181 purchases, having a share of 1.05% on the Turkish market.
