More than a million foreign tourists spent their holidays in Romania in July 2012, according to the National Statistics Institute "INS". This is the highest rate for the past six years. Compared with the same month in 2011 Romania has 13% more foreign tourists and 12.5% more domestic tourists.
In the first half of 2012 the overall number of foreign tourists increased by 12.4% compared to the same period in 2011 and 12.7% more Romanian tourists.
According to the Romanian Federation of Employers in tourism "FPTR", over 1.5 million Romanian tourists spent their holidays on the Romanian coast, which is 15% more than the previous year. During the holidays they spent around €270 million. Every tourist spent an average of €40-45 a day on food and lodging.
