Amendments to the law on residence permits for foreign investors allowed Portugal to earn €150 million since January 2013. Most investors are citizens of China, Russia and Angola, according to ee24.com citing The Portugal News.
Deputy Prime Minister of Portugal Paulo Portas is sure that in the future things will be even better. According to him, Portugal is becoming more attractive and competitive , which will inevitably increase the flow of foreign investment.
Portuguese Foreign Ministry issued 226 residence permits in exchange for investment, 168 of them for Chinese citizens, who've bought property in the ammount of €106 million. Other 58 residence permits were issued to residents of Russia, Angola, Brazil, Pakistan, South Africa, India, Tunisia, United States, Ukraine, Turkey and other countries.
Residence permit in Portugal is available to foreign investor who buys a property priced at more than €500,000.
