No panic! Latvia will not close issuing residence permits for the Russians

The Latvian government will not stop the issuance of residence permits for the Russians who buy property in this Baltic country. The Latvian Prime Minister Laimdota Straujuma told the journalists about it on September 16, the ee24.com portal informs citing the RIA "Novosti".

In September 2014, a national association "All for Latvia!" offered to restrict access of the Russian investors in real estate in Latvia, but their proposal was rejected in the Sejm. It happened when the amendments to the Immigration Act entered into force. According to it, the bar to get a residence permit in Latvia has risen to €250,000 (plus 5% tax) when buying an apartment or house.
