Experts say about the positive signs in the property market in Hungary, but nevertheless do not dare to predict the start of the recovery for 2014, according to ee24.com citing vg.hu.
In recent years, there were from 83 thousand to 90 thousand transactions in real estate recorded annually in Hungary, and market specialists see no objective reasons for the sharp increase in this number.
Prices of property in Hungary have continued to decline in 2013, although very slightly. However, average prices are still 20% below than in the pre-crisis year of 2008. It is expected that in 2014 housing will either slightly fall in price, or remain at the same level.
Average prices for apartments in Budapest amounted to 320-330 thousand forints (€1,040-1,070) per square meter, but this applies only to brick buildings. Apartments in old panel houses are cheaper. Thus, the typical one-bedroom apartment with an area of 50-60 sq.m can be bought for €60-70 thousand in a brick house, and for €30-35 thousand in a panel house.
