Driverless trains appeared in the Budapest metro

On March 28, the fourth line was opened in the first metro system on the European continent. Trains are fully automated and operate without drivers, according to ee24.com citing the Hungarian media.

The first section of the M4 length 7.4 km consists of 10 metro stations. The route connects the railway station of Kelenföld in the southwest with the railway station of Keleti in the central part of the city.

15 trains were purchased from Alstom, each of them can accommodate about 800 passengers. In the 1st year, drivers will attend, but after a year of trouble-free operation, trains will hit the road unaccompanied.

It is expected that property in Budapest, in areas near the new metro stations will grow in price. For example, this has already happened in Istanbul after the construction of the Marmaray tunnel, and this is happening now in London along Crossrail, which is not even in operation yet.
