National Bank of Greece and the State Privatization Fund on December 9 is going to open auction for the sale of the hotel Astir Palace, located in the southern part of Athens, reports ee24.com citing ekathimerini.com.
Three suitors are ready has already announced its readiness to participate in the auction. That is why the lot owners decided not to wait till wednesday, till the end of submitting applications term, and start trading on Monday December 9. Initial price is €380 million, but of course the object will be sold for a much larger sum.
It is reported that the Coalition of the Radical Left - Unitary Social Front (SYRIZA) presented in the Greek Parliament with a radical criticism of the deal. First of all politicians are not satisfied with the transformation of the property into a residential area of 40,000 sq.m, which will follow the sale of a building. Leftists call the upcoming deal as "scandalous."
Spyros Panas, mayor of the town of Vouliagmeni, where the hotel is located, is also opposed to changing the status of the land plot, although it recognizes the need for disposal of the hotel complex.
