You can buy a piece of Greek paradise for €15 million without bidding

In Greece, the island Spalatronisi is for sale. It is located in the Aegean Sea only 500 meters from Halkidiki. A typical story in times of crisis: the owner failed to pay the property taxes, which were significantly increased by the Greek authorities. Auction house Myro Antiques House put the island at a public auction, according to ee24.com referring to "Rossiyskaya Gazeta".

However, experts doubt the success of the auction for the sale of the island Spalatronisi, despite the fact that it was put up for auction with the transfer of property rights (previously in Greece islands were basically being leased for a long-term, rather than sold.) According to the expert Vadim Dolminidisa, the asking price for an island, which is €10 million, is much too high. Moreover, an island can be sold without the auction, if someone will pay €15 million for it. Organizers claim that affluent buyers have already started to apply for a lot.

This news should please the Russians, who are searching for Greek land and property since the beginning of the crisis, but still are not very active. So far, the Russians (ie - the billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev ) acquired only one island in Greece - Skorpios, which formerly belonged to Aristotle Onassis.

Perhaps potential buyers of Spalatronisi are scared by its protected area status, that imposes restrictions on the full economic use of the island. In particular, not more than 10% of the land can be used for the construction of tourism infrastructure, and the area of the house can not exceed 380 square meters.

Dolminidis believes that because of these conditions it will be difficult to sell the island for commercial or personal use (tourism shows low economic efficiency, and the maximum size of the house is too small for many affluent buyers).
