Boom on the real estate market in Leipzig

Real estate prices in Leipzig are soaring. Brokers forecast that price will continue increasing, as the population of this German city will increase in the coming years and infrastructure development will promote immigration, says the ee24.com citing Jens Zimmermann, Chairman of the German Association of Brokers.

The public image of Leipzig is improving driven by numerous infrastructure projects, transferring of coal mines to the periphery, repair of roads, tramways and railways.

According to realtor’s forecasts, in the period between 2014 and 2016, housing prices in Leipzig will grow by 9.6% – that is more than in Berlin and Frankfurt. In addition, the danger of a Leipzig "bubble" of property prices and rents ratio regarded as the lowest, unlike many other major cities in Germany.

Facts: Leipzig is the largest city of Saxony state in Germany with a population of about 530,000 people. In recent years the population increase was about 10,000 people annually.
