Ploumanc’h, a coastal settlement on Côtes d'Armor in Brittany, was named the French favorite village of 2015.
The contest "France's favorite village" («Village préféré des Français», organized by French TV channel France 2 is held already 4 years and is very popular - about 5 million viewers followed the developments of competition for several weeks.
Last year's winner was the village Cordes-sur-Ciel in the Tarn department (Midi-Pyrénées), and in 2013 - Eguisheim in the region of Alsace (Haut-Rhin). The first winner in 2012 was a village in the region of Midi-Pyrenees, Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, considered one of the most beautiful in France.
The main selection criteria for the competition are the charm, authenticity and beauty of the built environment, and this year were added additional criterias - the atmosphere of conviviality and respect for culinary traditions.
