Publishing House "Reader's Digest" had an unusual study on the honesty of the inhabitants of cities in Europe, America and India. It turned out that the most honest people live in Helsinki, and the least scrupulous - in Lisbon, said ee24.com citing rd.ru.
During the experiment 192 purses were "forgotten" in the streets of various cities. There were a note with the name of the owner and his mobile phone number, his family photos, some business cards and $50 cash in each of them. The experiment was conducted in 16 cities. 12 wallets were left in the parks, near the shopping centers and on the streets of each of them.
The results showed that the most conscientious people live in Helsinki. Residents of the Finnish capital returned 11 of 12 wallets. In the second place in the ranking of honesty were the inhabitants of Indian Mumbai, where nine people responded that they found someone else's wallet.
The most dishonest people live in Lisbon. In the capital of Portugal, the only person who returned someone else's wallet, was a Dutch tourist. Curiously, Amsterdam is at a decent sixth place in the rating of honesty. But Madrid and Prague took the second and third place from the end. In the Spanish capital two purses were returned, and in the Czech Republic - three. And in Madrid, one of the purses was also returned by a foreigner - a student from Germany Lena Jansen.
In Moscow, the process of "loss" of the purse in its initial stage was noticed by MES officer from Yakutia. Walking along the Moscow zoo, he saw a man that dropped the purse. The officer became suspicious and decided to watch the further actions of the young man. Making sure that the guy is behaving suspiciously and may well prove to be banal pickpocket, the officer handed the purse to the zoo guards, which returned it to the owner.
Another conclusion drawn by the study, was that the honesty of people does not depend on age, nor on the financial health, nor on the nationality.
