Since the first of January 2012, EU citizens have the opportunity to acquire land not intended for agricultural work. However, the existing ban on the purchase of land suitable for the cultivation of agricultural products will expire in three months, so it was decided not to extend the moratorium until 2016. In this regard Bulgaria fears that the land will be sold sell for peanuts, informs ee24.com citing NewsBG.
While such a measure may give a boost to the Bulgarian economy as a whole, experts predict the possible monopolization of the market and its denationalization. The estimated damage exceeds in scope calculated favor.
"Bulgarian land by its specifications is the same as, for example, the French one, and is sold ten times cheaper! Since January we give up land for official plunder. Someday, the Bulgarian government will realize they made a mistake," said professor at Sophia University Veselin Boiadzhiev.
Residents of Bulgaria fear a possible sharp collapse in prices and subsequent mass sale of land. Both professionals and ordinary citizens are not motivated by nationalism, the country is quite ready to be a part of the European Union, but an equivalent member, that receive adequate remuneration in return for their lands.
Also, any citizen of the EU, regardless of nationality, since January 1, 2014 will be able to buy a plot of land without going through the process of opening a fictitious legal entity for the transaction.
Due to the outbreak of national identity, Bulgarian experts are seriously considering the possible extension of the moratorium.
