In 2012, property prices in Belgium rose slightly. The national average home has risen in price by 2.7%, while more expensive single-family detached houses, often called "villas" in Belgium, fell, reported portal Expatica with reference to the Ministry of Economic Affairs. In 2012, prices for mansions and bungalows climbed by 0.3%, while the value of land for construction has increased by 2.4%.
According to statistics, the most expensive real estate was in the Belgian capital. Apartments in Kraynem, a suburb of Brussels, cost about €371,348. Anderlecht was the cheapest municipality in the Brussels-Capital Region, and Elsene - the most expensive. For comparison, in 2012 the average price for real estate in Belgium amounted to €353,959, while mansions - €894,600 and apartments - €217,607.
In Flanders, the cheapest housing was in the province Limburg, the most expensive - in Flemish Brabant. The lowest prices were recorded in Ronse, East Flanders.
