The Belgians are going to build a new city in Wallonia

In the densely populated region of Wallonia can be built a new city. Such a proposal put forward Lyutgen Benoit, president of the Belgian Humanist Democratic Centre. The new city can solve the problem of overpopulation of Wallonia, whose population will grow by 0.4 million people in the next 10-15 years, reports La Libre.be.

It is proposed not to explore new territory, but to consolidate small territorial units into a single metropolis. Media have dubbed these projects neo-cities that will have pedestrian space and a developed system of public transport. UNESCO and the European Union may help Belgians with the project.

In Wallonia this problem has been accessed back in 2011, when the forecast was made on the development of the territory in 2040. We note that a similar project is already being implemented in Egypt, where in 2010 began the construction of the two new cities to solve the problem of overcrowding in Cairo.
