In the heart of Kortrijk, around the corner from the Grote Markt and within walking distance of the station, there is a special residential project: D'Oude Vesting. This hidden gem, cleverly located in the historic center, is being built on the site of the former police station, on Jan Persijnstraat and Oude Vestingstraat. A golden opportunity for those who want to experience the Golden Spurs City in all its glory.
The four small-scale volumes, two in each street, consist of 18 apartments and a commercial ground floor. Each volume differs in height, depth and identity. There are two facade types. The first is based on the typical vertical city facades of the neighbourhood. The second is built more horizontally. The white concrete and light gray masonry always contrast beautifully with the bronze-coloured finish and the joinery in the same shade. In this way, an architectural diversity is introduced within the total concept that fits seamlessly into the streetscape.
The apartments in D'Oude Vesting are bathed in light thanks to the many windows. These are real doorzon apartments. Most residential units therefore focus their living spaces on the street as well as on the central courtyard. This high-quality outdoor space with lots of greenery is only accessible to residents. The greenery on the roofs emphasizes the open character even more and increases the feeling of space and tranquility.
