Tax changes in Catalonia: new forms of property will be introduced

Government of the Spanish region of Catalonia supported the preliminary draft of the law, according to which the secondary real estate buyers will pay a higher tax. The fee, which is paid for the transfer of ownership of second homes, will be increased from 8% to 10%, reports the noticia.ru.

In addition, the law will simplify the process of buying real estate in Catalonia for people with limited resources. It is planned that the new rules will solve the problem of surplus apartments and commercial space (especially in Barcelona).

The law will introduce two new forms of ownership - temporary and joint. Temporary property provides a limited term of the contract, after which real estate will be in the holder's hands. Joint ownership means that the buyer pays the initial quota, after which regularly buys the remaining shares.

Fact. At the moment, about 80% of the apartments in Catalonia are owned, another 15% are removable.
