Canary Islands, despite the rise in secondary real estate market by 0.7% (€1564 per square meter) in January 2013, remained in the top five Spanish regions with the cheapest real estate, according to The Canary News. The average price per square meter in the secondary real estate market in the Canary Islands is lower by 17.2% of the average for Spain (€1890 per square meter).

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (the average cost of the "square" is €1782) is the most expensive city in the Canary Islands, and the cheapest is Santa Lucía de Tirajana (€1075).

In addition to the Canary Islands, cheap housing is located in the municipalities of Valencia, Murcia, Castilla-La Mancha and Extremadura, and expensive – in the Basque Country, Madrid and Catalonia (the average cost of the "square" range from € 3233 to €2375).
