Main destination autonomous regions in Spain for tourists

Catalonia was the top tourist destination in Spain in July with 2 026 728 inbound tourists in the period. It also posted the highest growth in the month, at 9%, and continues the upward trend seen in the year to date.

The Balearic Islands (the second most popular tourist destination in the period) was visited by 1 980 172 tourists, and recorded growth in July of 2,6%.

The Region of Valencia consolidated its growth from the two previous months with 811 354 inbound tourists in July, an increase of 7,9%. Due to the lower number of British tourists in the period (the main emitting market for this region), most of this growth can be attributed to the French market.

The Region of Madrid maintained the upward trend which began at the start of the year with 385 021 inbound tourists in July, mainly due to the performance of the Italian and Portuguese markets.
