Throughout recent years, Girona is gaining popularity among foreign investors. Today, the number of real estate transactions committed in the area is 34% of the total number of transactions across Spain, according to ee24.com.
For the first six months of 2013 foreigners bought 1,678 apartments and houses in the region of Girona. Experts attribute this not only to the decline in domestic demand, but also to the general lowering of prices.
The most active buyers are residents of France and Belgium. Most often thr inexpensive items are bought on the second line or even away from the coast. Especially popular are the coastal towns of the Costa Brava: Roses, Empuriabrava and Lloret de Mar Beach.
Following the French and the Belgians go the investors from countries of the former Soviet Union, mostly Russians. Our fellow citizens are willing to spend large sums on building with an unusual design and the latest technology. Recently, however, there is an increasing number of Russian clients who are looking for low-cost, standard solutions.
