Construction output in Spain fell by almost half

From January to August 2013 46,495 apartments and houses have been built in Spain. This is 41.2% less than in the same period last year. Such data has the Ministry of Development of Spain, reports ee24.com citing noticia.ru.

The pace of construction of new buildings has been declining for the fifth consecutive year. In 2012, for example, 120,206 houses and flats were built, which was 28.4% less than in 2011. If we compare the current state of the market with a peak in 2007, when 641,419 objects have been built, it becomes apparent that the market fell by 81%.

Almost 100% of the facilities were built by private construction companies. The share of the state is only 0.5% of all new facilities. Compared to last year, private developers built a 40.2% fewer objects, and the state decline is 87%.

24,353 properties were built by commercial firms, 13,125 by individuals and homeowners' associations and 3,011 objects were built by cooperatives.
