From 1 January 2015, the Spanish Government reduces tax deductions for home owners who rent them out to young people under 30. In this case, for financial reasons, the owners will be forced to give preference to more adult tenants, reports ee24.com citing noticia.ru.
Miguel Ferrer, Secretary of State for Finance, explained the position of the authorities on this matter: because the rental market has stabilized and successfully developed, it is time to cut back on benefits. For those who rent houses and apartments in Spain for persons under 30, tax deductions will be reduced from 60% to 30%, for the rest of landlords - from 60% to 50%.
According to Madrid's deputy from the Social Liberal Party "Union, Progress and Democracy" Carlos Martínez Gorriarán, the government's decision was wrong and was intended to stimulate the purchase of real estate in Spain.
Note that the majority of young Spaniards can not afford neither buying nor renting. According to statistics, from 70% to 80% of people aged 20-30 still live with their parents, and this is one of the highest rates in Europe.
