Slovenia changed the law on foreigners

In Slovenia, the law on foreigners has been changed. Previously the non-residents of the EU proved sufficient funds on the basis of the notarial act in Slovenia. Now there are introduced the concepts of scholarships and funds in the account in any bank (Slovenian or other). In addition, the foreigner with the status of permanent resident or on the basis of residence permit (one-year extended) can locate the whole family in Slovenia, according to the Slovenia Business & Living portal.

The new rules came into force on January 1, 2015. If a foreigner living in Slovenia for five years on the basis of a residence permit can apply for permanent residence. In addition, the law added the cases of refusal of residence permit if the foreigner was a victim of trafficking in persons, or if the authorities believe the alien will not be resident staying in Slovenia (except for the case when the Slovenian employer sends a foreigner to work in another EU country).

Other changes in the law (a single permit to live and work, a single permit for self-employment and so on) will come into force on September 1, 2015.
