Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia Zorana Mihajlović, who also heads the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, announced that the deadline for obtaining of building permits would be reduced to 28 days. Such a provision will be included to the new law on planning and construction, which has to be approved by parliament in this July or August. The law was prepared in partnership with foreign investors in order to take into account the interests and needs of big business.
Along with the liberalization, the government will crack down on illegal construction. By early autumn authorities will prepare proposals for the fate of one and half million illegally constructed buildings.
