Prices for Romanian apartments fell by 7% since the beginning of the year

The cost of apartments in Romania for the past 8 months decreased more strongly than in the previous few years, reports ee24.com citing Imobiliare.ro. Romanian owners have lowered prices by 6.95% over the period from January to August 2013. For comparison, in 2012, prices fell by 1.3% and in 2011 - by 4%.

A decrease of 6.95% means that a square meter of housing in Romania now costs an average of €910. In Bucharest, prices fell by 7.38% to €1,054 per square meter, while in Brasov - by 5% to €814 for a "square".

But in some places prices even increased, though not by much. Growth was seen in cities such as Timisoara (+2.16% to €802 per sq.m.), Constanta (+1.51% to €869 per sq.m.) and Cluj-Napoca (+0.89% to €904 per sq.m.).
