Investors from Germany, the Netherlands and Ukraine were actively buying land in Poland in 2012, according to "Contracts" referring to the Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita. The interest of Ukrainians to the suburban real estate in the neighboring country has surprised many analysts of the real estate market in Poland.
"Last year, the citizens of Ukraine have issued 50 permits (in 2011 - 43) for the purchase of Polish land, or 15% of all permits issued to foreigners," said the publication.
Ukrainians are interested in real estate in Poland because of the good living conditions and higher wages than at home, said Professor Roman Drozd of the "Union of Ukrainians in Poland." Many of the migrants have higher education, look for work and send their children to local schools.
