Ukrainians are moving to Montenegro

Over the past few weeks several dozen of Ukrainians have moved to Budva in Montenegro, according to ee24.com citing ekapija.com.

Ukraine recently lost a great part of the Black Sea coast, and some residents have decided to move to the Adriatic Sea in Montenegro. Recently, many Ukrainians have bought property in Budva, and Ukrainian can be heard on streets.

Realtor and travel agencies fear that the effect would be temporary, and the escalation of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine will eventually affect the market negatively. Žarko Radulović from the Montenegrin tourist association notes that the rumors that Montenegro has introduced sanctions against Russia are harming the industry. According to him, the Government of Montenegro should be careful to respond to Russia's actions, given the approaching summer season.

And there is something to fear: Russian tourists are making a significant contribution to the economy. In 2013, Montenegro was visited by 300 thousand Russians. Number of Russian tourists in Montenegro amounted to 28% of the total number of tourists in the country.
