Latvia has set a new record for the number of applications for residence permits

Over the last two months 337 applications for a residence permit have been submitted in Latvia: 178 in July and 159 in August, reports ee24.com with reference to The Baltic Course. These figures were higher than the previous record set in November 2012, when there were 139 applications. The average monthly number of applications in 2013 is 131, in 2012 -102 applications, in 2011 - 70 applications.

Due to the constant increase in demand for residence permit, the Latvian society inflames debate on increasing the minimum value of the property, which allows to apply for a residence permit in Latvia. We recall that ee24.com previously wrote about this in detail.

The average foreign investor in the Latvian real estate is a Russian citizen 36-46 years old with higher education. He is usually English-speaking and ready to learn Latvian language. Typically, the investor asks for residence permit, not only for himself but also for the entire family, which includes his wife and two children.
