In the historical centre of Riga, Latvia, in a respectable neighborhood on the street Elizabetes, the luxury residential complex "Tal Residence" is under construction. It is named after Soviet chess player Mikhail Tal, who lived on this street, according to ee24.com.

The house is not very tall, it is about the same height as the adjacent one, and it will successfully fit into the old architecture of Riga. Despite the fact that the project architect Ingurds Lazdiņš has large panoramic windows and terraces, and therefore a large area of glass facade, the building doesn't look odd among neighboring buildings of Latvian Art Nouveau. On the contrary, old buildings will be reflected in the glass of "Tal Residence" that will prevent the domination of the latter one.

Author of the project uses chess motifs. Firstly, bay windows on the facade remind chess pieces, and secondly, windows with glass of various shades remind the chessboard. By the way, in the contract with the buyers there is a point about the color of the curtains: the owners will have to coordinate it with the developer. Wooden blinds on the second and third floors have no connection to chess but it is a kind of memory about the wooden house, which was located there.
