In the second quarter of this year, the number of Ukrainians who've bought property in Riga has grown up. At the same time, Russians were buying apartments in the center of the capital less actively than before, according to ee24.com citing baltic-course.com.
Experts associate the Ukrainian "wave" with the growing instability in that country. As for Russians, professionals believe the lack of demand is due to the transition period from the old rules of residence permit issuance to new rules.
Latvians also do not show interest in buying luxury apartments in the center, preferring small flats. However, prices remained virtually unchanged. According to Ober-Haus, in the "remote center" one square meter in apartments without repair can be bought for €700-1,300. In renovated buildings a square meter costs €1,000-2,000 in pre-war houses and €1,700-2,500 in newer houses.
