The Latvian government has decided to allocate €7.4 million for the extension of the Museum of the Occupation. A new building will be added to the existing one, writes ee24.com citing Latvian and Russian media.
Museum of the Revolution, which was converted into Museum of the Occupation in 1991, will get two new major exhibitions. By the end of 2016 House of the Future will be built, and by mid-2017 the memorial, designed to perpetuate the memory of the victims of the Soviet occupation, is planned to be finished.
"Rossiyskaya Gazeta" notes that the money for the expansion was found exactly in the period of sanctions' wars. Many Latvian politicians are confident that these actions are intended to annoy Russia.
