Latvians got used to pay in euro

20% of Latvians aged 18-55 years got used to pay in euro, and 41% of respondents almost got used. 37% of Latvians are still not able to adapt to a new currency, writes ee24.com citing stolitsa.ee.

Since July 1, shops and businesses have a right to write prices in euro only, so the transition period can be considered as completed. However, the right to use of the price tag with old and new money remains. And this tactic can be successful: only 52% participants of the online survey conducted by TNS Latvia and LNT no longer want to see prices in both currencies, and 43% say the opposite.

Changeover to the euro from January 1, 2014 was a fairly painless process, because of using of the European currency in advance. Buying of property in Riga and Jurmala was available mainly in euros long before of the beginning of 2014.
