During the first two months of 2014 the Latvian authorities issued 916 residence permits. The country's economy has received €67.6 million, including €61.3 million from the purchase of real estate, according to ee24.com citing baltic-course.com.
Territorial preferences of foreign buyers have not changed: they were choosing housing in Riga (178 objects) and in Jurmala (62 objects). Russians continue to lead in the number of obtained residence permits (573), followed by Chinese (170) and Ukrainians (44).
Last year, the residence permit when buying real estate in Latvia was issued for 7353 persons, it's 20 documents per day. In the first months of this year, the intensity of issuing amounted to 15.5 documents a day.
Recall that in late 2013 latvian deputies proposed to establish a quota for granting residence permits: 800 documents in 2014, with further annual reduction by 175 documents.
