In the first 8 months of 2014, the Riga City Council has helped 404 citizens, homeless for various reasons, most of whom had previously rented social housing, ee24.com reports.
Also 30 people, who lived in the houses returned to the owners by the denationalization, were provided new homes. Another 115 people are orphans, large families, ex-prisoners and those, who earlier lived in the emergency homes.
The municipal flats don't high comfort, but have a minimum required set of water, heat and canalisation. The work of the Riga authorities has not over yet. 700 people will be provided housing after September 2014.
