Artistic and architectural heritage of Italy is certainly the subject of constant and justifiable pride of the Italians. Map of Italy is covered by historical villas, castles and palaces, which are often the private residences of Italian families.
But in addition to the rich cultural heritage, and these beautiful buildings are often a source of numerous problems for their owners: the Ministry of Culture of Italy imposes on them a large number of restrictions, obligations and expenses. By law, owners are required to maintain their homes in a good condition, provide for visitors and for various social events.
According to statistics, only about 40% of the owners of historic property can afford the contents of their home at the proper level.
In this regard, ADSI - Italian Historic Houses Association - sent to the Ministry of Culture the following proposal: to reduce by 30% property tax for owners of historic property that will allow them to redistribute funds in favor of building maintenance and expansion of tourism opportunities of the object.
Experts expect that this will free up more funds for investment in the tourism industry in Italy, which is currently going through hard times. "Breathing new life into tourism" - that's the main motive of Association's proposal. "We want to help those owners who do not just want to perform regalmenty and regulations, although are able to invest in the tourism sector."
