Association "Genoa - Smart City" presented a new vision of this ancient maritime city in Italy. "Green" economy, short-term car rental and bicycles, Wi-Fi are the new elements that appear in various projects aimed at transforming Genoa to a Smart City (a nice city to live.) Such plans are confirmed at an international conference on the future of cities by Paolo Pissarello, vice-president of "Genoa - Smart City".
The project featured 20 items that must be done to turn Genoa in Smart City. According to Italian media, the ingredients in this recipe for the transformation of Genoa are real and are feasible in the near future: carsharing, bike rental, a Wi-Fi network, the expansion of the subway, the increase of railways.
Technology is a key point in the incarnation of the project and a focus on improving the quality of citizens life.
Now there is not enough technology and support of the local administration, whose mission is to help citizens and businesses, for the realization of the project.
Association "Genoa - Smart City" was founded by the Municipality of Genoa with the national agency for electricity ENEL and the University of Genoa in order to attract key partners to this program: companies, institutions and public finance, as well as the researchers.
