Budelli Island still isn’t sold

Magic island of Budelli in the archipelago of La Maddalena (Sardinia), where the famous "Pink Beach» (Spiaggia Rosa) is situated, is again left without buyers. Two years New Zealand magnate Michael Hart, who proposed for the island at auction nearly € 3 million, was struggling with the Italian bureaucracy.

According to his confession, he was tired of fighting: within two years of the Italian authorities strongly resisted joining Garth in ownership.

The  ecologists were against as well: they seriously feared that the plans to create an open-air museum declared by Garth are just the words, and in fact a unique pink beach is in danger.

Originally the island was put up for auction in 2011 for € 4,5 million, but there were no buyers at that moment. In 2013 it was declared the second round of the auction, which won Mr. Garth. Since then it began a series of lawsuits in which the island passed to the magnate, then again to the Italian authorities. Now frustrated owner abandoned the struggle.

Anyway, in the nearest time the Italian court should determine who will manage the island.
