Dreaming of a house in France? How about a whole village?

On one of the online auctions in France there is a new arrival - a picturesque abandoned village in the department of Jura is put up for sale with a starting price of € 150,000.

Baden Village is more than 220 years old, most of the buildings (including a Catholic priest house, fountain, shops) dates back to the 19th century. 3 years ago, local authorities have bought a settlement in the hope to restore it and turn into a popular tourist site, but those plans went awry.

Baden was formerly known as a center of the wind furnaces producing. There lived about 2000 citizen, but after the closure of the last factory, people abandoned the village. Today, the entire population can be counted on the fingers.

Those wishing to acquire a French village are not so much - Le Parisien reports that only one investor from Belgium is interested in the object. Baden will go under the hammer at a 5-day auction, which will start on 23 May.

There is only one "catch" to overshadow such a low starting price - the new owner of the settlement will have to pay € 20,000,000 for reconstruction. The annual utility charges estimated by experts at € 250,000.
