It is also reported that in 2009, Russia's consul in the main city of the Aland Islands – Mariehamn arrived at the local land service branch with the document, in which the Russian Foreign Ministry demanded to sign away the part of Norrgård estate to the Office of the President of the Russian Federation.

Aland Islands are an archipelago in the Baltic Sea at the entrance to the Gulf of Bothnia, the autonomy within Finland. Islands are inhabited by Finnish Swedes and the territory has monolingual status.
