More than 2 thousand Russians have become citizens of Finland in 2013, reports ee24.сom citing yle.fi. This is less than in 2012, when passports were granted to 2.5 thousand Russians.
Among other recipients of the Finnish citizenship were former residents of Somalia (0.8 thousand), Iraq (0.5 thousand), Afghanistan (0.5 thousand) and other countries. In total 9 thousand passports were issued, and 95% of new Finns have also retained the citizenship of their native countries.
Now 78 thousand people with dual citizenship are living in Finland, 18 thousand of them were born in Finland, 60 thousand are former foreigners. The latter include 21.5 thousand people with passports of Finland and the Russian Federation, 6.4 thousand - of Finland and Sweden, 3.6 thousand - of Finland and the United States. In total 30 thousand Russian citizens live in Finland.
