Experts of Move with Us company conducted a study of questions that buyers often ask realtors and got surprising and rather amusing results. According to property portal Property Wire, it was found that 19% of all questions concerned the presence of ghosts or other supernatural residents in the house.
One of the clients asked to pick a house with a ghost to bear her company so that she never felt alone. Another buyer went even further; as soon as he stepped into the house he was going to purchase he attempted to contact otherworldly powers to ensure that there were no intruders in there.
Approximately 13% of all questions were about the price of the property. Clients often worry that some valuable items or even animate objects on the territory of property can affect its value. In particular, one of the clients inquired whether the cost of the parrot that lived in the house the client was interested in was included in the total value of the transaction.
Slightly less often (12% of the questions) clients ask about the presence of wild and domestic animals in the vicinity. 30% of respondents from these 12% ask questions about cows. People are seriously concerned about the volume of cow mooing in the surrounding fields, the incidence and frequency of cow grazing, the presence of squirrel or bird nests and burrows on the roof of the house.
Strange as it may appear, only 6% of customers are worried and ask questions about the neighbors. But if they do worry they worry for real; either on the scale of potato chips eating in a nearby apartment, or on the proportion of cats in the total population of an apartment house.
Among other things, clients are seriously concerned on whether the kitchen is on the outside or the inside of the house walls; can they move into the house before transaction is completed; and make inquiries about the insulation in the garden behind the house.
Director of Move with Us Robin King pointed out that although the results of the study are quite surprising they only underscore that it is important for buyers to have comprehensive information about the property being purchased. The client doesn’t want even a smallest detail about his or her new property to slip from attention that’s why the client sometimes asks questions that may seem ridiculous at first.
