It is expected that in 2013 the volume of construction work in the Czech Republic will be reduced by 5% compared with 2012, with the decline slowed down, informs the website FinancniNoviny.cz referring to the president of the Union of Entrepreneurs in the construction industry Vaclav Matijas. For comparison, in 2012 the drop was 6.5%.
This decline is due to several reasons. First, the Czech government does not support building firms through a variety of programs, grants or benefits during the crisis. Second, the value of new orders in 2013 for construction companies decreased by 18.5% and in transport construction – by one-third.
According to Matijas, the volume of construction in the Czech Republic will decline in 2014 too. Nowadays, many construction companies are forced to lay off workers or pay them the minimum wage.
According to others, in February 2013 the volume of construction work in the Czech Republic increased by 2.3% compared to January 2013, reported the Czech Statistical Office.
