Real estate prices in Croatia are falling faster than statistic says

In October 2013, property prices in Croatia have dropped by 0.3% compared with the previous month. Throughout the year, housing in Croatia was becoming cheaper, except of Split and Pula, as well as several prestigious areas in Zagreb and on the coast, according to ee24.com citing poslovni.hr.

Degree of the fall in prices can be illustrated by one building on Masaryk street in Zagreb. In 2008, an unfinished apartment in this house was sold for €2,600 per sq.m, while in 2012 a fully furnished apartment in the same building was sold for €2,000 per sq.m.

Croats, who sell their properties, don't put money in banks offering low interest rates, but  rather invest it... in real estate. Sellers of large apartments often buy two small flats. When buying properties in the resort areas, people are becoming more interested not only in price, but also in quality of construction and in infrastructure development.
