From January to March 2013 44,174 real estate transactions were registered in Bulgaria, 23% more than in the first quarter of 2012 (35,821), according to the portal NewsBG.ru referring to the "Postenska Banka".
About 11% transactions (5,811), concluded in 2013, have been committed by mortgage loans. Since the beginning of the year interest in bank loans increased by 25%. Over 40% of mortgage loans were issued in Sofia by the average amount of up to €20,000, €10,000 less than in 2012. Every third loan was granted for 25 years.
Another feature of 2013 - three-quarters of mortgage loans (74.5%) were obtained in BGN. For comparison, in 2012 this figure was 50%. "According to our forecasts, the trend for mortgage loans in BGN will continue this year, reaching 80%," said Rumen Radushev, head of mortgage lending in the "Postenska Banka".
Mortgage loans were issued for the purchase of apartments in monolithic (72.4%) and prefabricated buildings (27.3%) and for the purchase of land (0.3%).
