Heading East. There will be less Europeans but more Russians in Bulgaria

This summer less Europeans, especially Scandinavians, Danes and Dutch will arrive to Bulgaria. Planes from Moscow, on the contrary, arrive "stuffed to the gills", but the problem in Ukraine made correction into this direction, reports ee24.com citing monitor.bg.

Rumen Draganov, Director of the Institute for the Analysis and forecast of tourism, said that many were afraid to go to Bulgaria due to the poor image of the country in Western press. The number of Russians coming to Bulgaria, in contrast, is growing. Draganov argues that this is due to increase in the number of those who have property in Bulgaria by the sea. Meanwhile, there is one direction in which there is a decline: the Russians stopped coming by car through Ukraine.

Bulgarian Economy Minister Branimir Botev had previously claimed that the figures this season would exceed last year's. During the first four months the number of tourists in Bulgaria increased by 4.1% to 1.132 million people.
