Bulgaria is under construction. Number of building permits is on the up

In Q2 2014 the Bulgarian authorities have issued by 2.6% less building permits than in the same period of the last year. However, there will be by 16% more apartments in these buildings, according to ee24.com citing the National Institute of Statistics.

For the three months permits were issued for 1,121 buildings with 3,462 apartments. In addition, 1,219 non-residential buildings will be constructed. Coast is among the leaders: developers received most permits in the Plovdiv region (137), Burgas region (130), Sofia (118) and Varna region (99). There will be respectively 407, 480, 1,100 and 291 new apartments. Thus, while developers in Sofia are erecting high-rises, their collegues in other regions prefer low-rise buildings.

Property prices in Bulgaria are still in a phase of stagnation. In Q2 they increased slightly to €444,5 per sq.m.
