Two percent annual deflation eases life in Bulgaria, making it cheaper. Consumer basket of an ordinary Bulgarian resident in the second quarter amounted to 560 levs (€286), reports ee24.com citing bulgariatoday.ru.
The basket for family of 4 is €1,143 a month. For comparison, this amount is enough to purchase a square meter of luxury property in Bulgaria or two square meters of mainstream property.
According to Nikolay Nenkov, vice president of the Coalition of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria, living wage continues to decline. The reason for that is not just deflation, but also negative factors such as economic slowdown, rise in unemployment and reduce in demand.
